HUAAS will be hosting Professor Karen Thornber of Harvard University, for an evening talk on her latest project – Women and Leadership in Asia – which will be the topic of her upcoming book.
In 2016, Professor Thornber was appointed as the Victor and William Fung Director of the Harvard Asia Center and Chair of the Council on Asian Studies.
She was the first woman and the first faculty member from the humanities to hold those posts.
The Asia Center, amongst other things, promotes cross-school teaching and research across all aspects and all fields related to Asia, and Karen herself has a great interest in promoting greater penetration and expansion of Harvard University’s work in Southeast Asia.
